SMDP Shoes•  520 backpacks were filled with age appropriate school materials and distributed to children at the beginning of the school year.

•  New sneakers were provided to children during the back to school preparations.

•  240 families were provided with Thanksgiving food baskets, including meat.


imag0250-2•  890 children received Christmas gifts thanks to the generosity of the supports of St Martin de Porres outreach ministry.

•  750 children participated in an Easter celebration including food, pinatas, and an egg hunt.

Helping_Success02We offer classes in English as a second language, and are developing courses in food safety, sewing, computer literacy, and basic construction to enable our clients to obtain jobs that will sustain them.


Monthly we are working with other agencies to provide health screening (including mobile mammography) on site during operating hours.

2014 Wrap Up

Some of the accomplishments from 2014:


  • Obtained a lease on the Palm Beach Blvd building March 2014.
  • Opened food pantry at Palm Beach Blvd. location.  Also serving other communities including:
    • Migrant workers in Immokalee
    • Senior citizens in Bokeelia
    • Food pantries at: Jesus the Worker and Methodist Chruch
  • Opened cafe June 1 with meals one day a week.
    • Added a second day for cafe meals July 2014
    • Goal is to get to 5 days a week as funding, volunteers and resources allow.
  • Received approval from both Harry Chapin Food Bank and Midwest Food Bank to help us in providing much needed food for our cafe and food bank.

Personal Assistance

  • We work with individuals on a one-on-one bases to assist them in obtaining necessary counseling or support (homelessness, addition, unsafe environments) as well as assisting the homeless population.
  • Personal assistance is provided for job counseling and job searching.
  • Showers are available for homeless men and women.  In addition to the showers, clean clothing is provided after each shower.
